The International Association for Scottish Philosophy Bookstore

Welcome to the Scottish Philosophy Bookstore
As an affiliate of Amazon we are able to select the best editions -- as well as edited selections and quality reprints -- of all the major Scottish philosophers. The SPB arranges them into relevant categories, for easy perusal and purchase. Every purchase generates a small amount of revenue for the International Association for Scottish Philosophy, thereby enabling us to make continuous improvements to the IASP website.

A special feature of this bookstore is the “Just Published” category. We welcome information and suggestions from authors and readers of newly published philosophy books that are relevant to the study of Scottish philosophy and its history. New books will feature in the “Recent Publications” category for three months, and continue to feature in the relevant category thereafter. To propose a title, please use our contact form

“Recent Publications” currently features Selected Writings of James Frederick Ferrier, Professor of Moral Philosophy at St Andrews from. Described as the most
brilliant philosophical mind of his generation, the works of this 19th century Scottish philosopher have hitherto been difficult and expensive to obtain. This selection – the latest volume in the Library of Scottish Philosophy – makes his key writings easily and inexpensively accessible once more.  Also featured are the second edition of Ian Simpson Ross’s highly acclaimed Life of Adam Smith (OUP, 2010), the most recent addition to the Edinburgh Edition of Thomas Reid, Essays on the Active Powers of Man (Edinburgh UP, 2010), and an important collection of new essay on Hume and the Enlightenment (Pickering and Chatto, 2011).

Visits to the Scottish philosophy website are currently running at several thousand a month. We hope this new bookstore will prove a welcome and valuable addition. Please place your orders for philosophy books though the Scottish Philosophy Bookstore. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
